SmCo Arc Magnets

MEANK offers cost-effective solutions with SmCo arc magnets, perfect for applications that require high temperature resistance and strong magnetic fields. Our large N52 neodymium magnets and N52 magnets suppliers ensure the highest quality possible. Additionally, our SmCo arc magnets have a low temperature limit, making them ideal for use in a wide range of environments.

Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) magnets are a type of rare earth permanent magnet that exhibit exceptional resistance to oxidation and corrosion. With high Curie temperature and stable thermal properties, SmCo arc magnets find various applications.

Grades & Types of Rare Earth Samarium Cobalt Arc Magnets:

There exist two primary variations of the rare earth magnet alloy, Samarium Cobalt (SmCo), utilized in manufacturing. The first variation, identified as (1-5), consists of one Samarium atom for every five Cobalt atoms and is an older type. The second variation, labeled as (2-17), is a more recent type and has an atomic ratio of two Samarium atoms to 17 Cobalt atoms.

A variety of grades of SmCo arc magnets are accessible for both commercial and industrial purposes. The range of grades accommodates the need to balance cost, operational temperature resistance, and magnetic performance. The magnetic energy of SmCo arc magnets is between 16 to 32 MGOe.

Typical Applications of Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) Arc Magnets

Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) arc magnets are used in a wide range of high-performance applications due to their superior magnetic properties. Some typical applications of SmCo arc magnets include electric motors, generators, sensors, speakers, instrumentation devices, and more. These magnets are also frequently used in specialized fields like aerospace, medical technology, and the military due to their high resistance to demagnetization, exceptional stability at high temperatures, and excellent corrosion resistance.

Safety Warning For Handling Samarium Cobalt(SmCo) Arc Magnets

  • Always wear protective gloves when handling SmCo magnets to prevent injuries from pinching or crushing.

  • Keep the magnets away from electronic devices, credit cards, and pacemakers. SmCo magnets produce strong magnetic fields that can damage or interfere with the operation of sensitive electronics.

  • Avoid placing SmCo magnets near ferromagnetic materials, such as iron or steel. The magnets can attract these materials and become difficult to remove, causing injuries.

  • When handling a large number of SmCo magnets, use caution to prevent them from snapping together and pinching fingers.

  • Do not use your bare hands to handle SmCo magnets. The strong magnetic field can pinch and cut your skin, and cause blood blisters.

  • Keep SmCo magnets away from children and pets, as they may accidentally swallow or inhale the magnets, which can cause serious health problems or even death.

  • If a magnet breaks, never touch the broken pieces with your bare hands. Instead, use gloves and dispose of the fragments properly.

Radially In / Radially Out:

Samarium Cobalt Arc Magnets

True Radial Arc Segment Magnets

An arc segment shape smco magnets can be polarized NORTH or SOUTH on the Outside Radius. (The resulting opposite pole will reside on the Inside Radius.)

It is very difficult to achieve a true “radial” orientation during the pressing/alignment stage of manufacturing and therefore, truly radial Samarium Cobalt(SmCo)arc segment magnets are rare and specialized. (An approximation of a true radial Orientated Radial Arc is widely utilized in industry.)

Approximated Radial Arc SmCo magnets

The approximated radial arc utilizes linear orientation/magnetization along a straight axis. The radial component diminishes on the leading and trailing edges of the approximated radial arc smco magnets.

CIRCUMFERENTIAL:

True Circumferential Arc

Circumferential Orientation and Magnetization is not available for arc magnets comprised of Samarium Cobalt; however, this magnetization geometry can be approximated.
